Ilana Reynolds (1981 USA/France) works in the fields of choreography, performance, and education. Her background is based in Afro-Brazilian dance/Capoeira, release techniques, Somatics and improvisation. Ranging from meticulously choreographed to instant compositions, Ilana's choreographic work is physically specific, humorous and energetic. Thriving within strong artistic collaborations, she works closely with other choreographers and on several interdisciplinary projects with musicians, writers and video artists. She teaches within several different cultural and social contexts and in various dance institutions around Germany and abroad. While teaching, Ilana aims to ignite one's own sense of physical dynamics and vitality through anatomical and somatic proposals. She guides personal and group creativity and curiosity through improvisational and choreographic tasks in order to promote and sharpen spatial and relational awareness.  

Ilana holds a BA from the University of Massachusetts and an MA in contemporary dance education from the Frankfurt University of Arts. She is an awarded scholar of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes.
